Public Adjusters Can Slow Down The Claims Process

I’ve worked thousands of claims as an adjuster in New York City.

Here’s one thing that I can tell you:

Many Public adjusters slow down the claims settlement process.

I’ve gotten claims with public adjusters hired already and when I call for a same day or next day inspection, they’ll kick the inspection down the road 10 days.

Agency problem with public adjusters. Most are not looking out for their clients own best interests. Of course, they want the client to get paid fairly, etc. But when a pa manages the claim, it usually moves much slower. Why?

Scheduling the inspection when the pa is available.

Communicating through another party to attain certain documentation or information.

Something simple as “who performed the mitigation” can easily take a week for an answer.

Public adjusters usually are terrible at writing estimates.

They get building consultants on every project.

Now, to inspect the property the builder, the pa, and the insured schedules must overlap, which can often take weeks,

If you deal directly with the adjuster, only the insured and adjuster must agree on a date.

Of course, there are times when a public adjuster is very useful.

Like if you don’t want to worry about the claim.

If an extra two weeks or a month is not a big deal to you if you would prefer to get more for your claim.

If you have a Large loss and you just don’t want to manage it.

Then, hire a public adjuster.

Really, even if you have a smaller claim, a public adjuster could be worthwhile for the same reasons.
